Facebook could be broken up into 6 separate companies:
- Facebook social network and Facebook Messenger
- Instagram
- WhatsApp
- Facebook Groups
- Facebook Marketplace
- Facebook Internet ad tracking network
This would be a step in the right direction, but would be an
incomplete remedy unless an attempt is also made to address
the underlying causes of Facebook's monopoly power:
Laws around using a monopoly in one area to compete in another
probably need to be updated for the digital age.
